Weather Report I (from a-n)

I impulsively made this one at Midnight on Sunday/Monday and Monday morning. Initially, it was just Models of this organisation with a made-up weather map. It’s not meant to make sense when you read it in detail, but it looks like a weather map at first glance. I added Mr. Blobby on the side, who appears to be a meteorologist.

I wanted to inject a bit of 90s British charm into the work and make it even more absurd. The file is saved in a format that allows the background to be transparent for my website (which is blue, and I made the homepage adopt aspects of teletext, but have instead renamed it as intertext scroll). I have added chromakey on the background of the work shown on the flat screen television as a mock-up installation. This is how I would display it in an exhibition setting.

I’ve done a mock-up of the diagram (without Mr. Blobby) on a green screen stand. Factoring in the logistics and storage solutions for after the show made me decide to go for the television version. If I had a bigger profile and more money as an artist, I’d go for the green screen stand.

I often say I want a steady practice, but most often I go into some creative flow state and create work impulsively. I don’t like this flow state much, because I feel I lose track of time and don’t live in the moment, but that’s how I make work.
